Big and Better Things

2015 has become the most successful year of my life yet. I started writing a column for the Las Vegas Business Press in 2014 and I’ve successfully written the same column for an entire year. The column I write is called the Snapshot or executive snapshot. Each week I interview a Las Vegas executive.

The Snapshot appears on the last page of the Las Vegas Business Press. That’s very exciting to me because I have always considered the last page of any publication the 2nd front page. The reason for this rationale is simple. Many people, myself included, tend to pick up a publication and read it from the back to the front.

There may not be any real logical reason for reading something from the back to the front but I know many people do this if only because magazines don’t need to be read page by page from the very first page. It’s simply relaxing to pick up a publication and flip through the pages forward and backwards.

This column means a lot to me because it allows me to continually learn. I consider myself to be a lifetime student. If I could afford to take university classes I would take at least one university class a semester until the day I die. However, the cost of university is expensive therefore writing this column allows me to educate myself while providing valuable information to others who probably value education as much if not more than myself.

I also take photos with each interview. Each article has a nice executive photo to go with the piece. Having the privilege to write for the local business  press is an honor. I’ve also contributed to other segments in the business press such as the Giving Back segment which features nonprofits; this column allows me to tap into my university grad school education. Since this year started I’ve had three different photos published on the front page of the Las Vegas Business Press which is extremely exciting.

This year I was honored to be chosen to write for Open4Cannabis as well. It is truly the highlight of my career. When the owner, Alex Bischoff, told me that he’d like to have me tell my story as the opening for this website I was both excited and honored. Summing up my life in 500 word pages has been a challenge and I feel I could write another 30 pages about my life, experience, and knowledge.

I’m one who believes in fate, destiny, and the universe. Though I don’t consider myself religious per-say I do consider myself spiritual. I believe there is a God and I believe you can create and direct your own path to some extent. With our first meeting I felt a connection to the owner and his mission.

The ability to work with and write for someone with whom you feel a kinship is the ideal environment for creativity. Alex has provided me the opportunity of a lifetime and I hope to continue to share my thoughts and experiences along with important data and research from across the nation.
